FRAMINGHAM — Maria Robinson handily won her party’s nomination to fill the 6th Middlesex state representative seat Tuesday night, winning more than half of the vote and besting two lifelong Framingham residents.
Robinson led a field of four with 1,911 votes, outpacing Michael Gatlin (792), Mary Kate Feeney (535) and Mark Tilden (29).
“I am just overwhelmed with gratitude,” said Robinson, reached at her Edgell Road home after the results came in. “I am incredibly grateful to the people of Framingham.” Robinson said her win was thanks to the hard work of her staff of about 25, all unpaid.
“I was a bit surprised, but really proud,” said Robinson. “We were out knocking on doors every day.”
